Known Information

Recently named the heir to the Barony of Auzonnet, Bastien was, until that time, in training to become a courtesan in the Lis D'Or Salon. He is reputed to be be a talented musician, with a heavenly voice.

Bastien Aubrey Mereliot was born to a young and beautiful courtesan by the name of Sabine. She knew that the father of her son was Gerard Mereliot, the Baron Auzonnet, and had informed the baron of the birth of a son. The problem was that the baron already had an heir and did not want some bastard child competing for his title. So for the majority of his life, Bastien Aubrey grew up removed from the political world that would one day consume his life

It was obvious from an early age that Bastien was a musical prodigy. In truth, it was always the fact that he was born a scion of Eistheth shining through. Sabine did what she could do and used her contacts to apprentice Bastien to trained as a courtesan himself. Like his mother, Bastien was trained in the service of the Eglantine canon of Lis d’Or. This was the life that Bastien lived and loved. Unfortunately it was not meant to be.

As stated before, Baron Gerard had an heir, two sons actually. The elder, Antonio, followed in his footsteps and began to oversee parts of the family merchant empire. The younger, Marcus, was a knave and found him in a duel that he was unable to win. The slight to the other man's honor demanded blood, and blood is what was given. Marcus paid for his arrogance with his life. Antonio sailed off on one of the family's ships to oversee a business deal. The ship was lost and Antonio with it. This left Baron Gerard now with no heir.

Now a widower with no sons, the baron found himself with a wasting disease. As he found himself on his death bed, he saw a cousin circling like a vulture waiting for his death. If for nothing other than spite and not wanting his cousin that he despised from claiming his title, he had Bastien summoned to his house. The boy had no idea why he was being called to the baron's house. But before the day was done, Gerard officially recognized Bastien as his son and thusly as his heir. A few months before his debut at the salon, and his future as a courtesan is snuffed to an end. Within a few months’ time, Bastien gained and lost a father, and the life that he had known as his was ripped away as he was thrust into the political world of Marsilikos, now he must learn to play the great game of politics from a side that he never thought possible.
