Known Information

A Mont Nuit trained courtesan from the capital city of Elua, Soleil is the beautiful wife of Augustin Trevalion, duc of Azzaelle, and granddaughter of the elderly Pervenche L'Envers, Baronne de Vézelay. She made her marque at Gentian House, and was considered quite a skilled member of that salon. In the summer of 1312, however, she retired from that position in advance of her marriage to her distinguished patron.

A grand-daughter of the present and by now rather elderly baronne de Vézelay, Soleil was never in line to inherit land, title, or great prominence in the world — but Naamah's blood ran strongly in her veins and from her earliest childhood it was apparent to the adults of her family that she had the gentle heart, the natural serenity, and the slow-blossoming beauty of a true servant of Naamah. Raised with her siblings and a few cousins she had the ordinary education of a young noblewoman, vaguely aware for as long as she could remember that when the time came she would be offered to the Night Court to continue her training there.

At thirteen she was dedicated to Naamah as a Gentian. Her debut came shortly after her 16th birthday and she was five years in making her marque, Gentian assignations being slow but steady, and each patron requiring considerable time, and effort, and care.

She gained a reputation as unerringly accurate when it came to interpreting dreams, issuing serious warnings with utter surety. Many thought that she'd leave service to marry the uncle of the duc Chalasse, a long-term patron who was utterly in love with her, but she interpreted a dream of his that suggested he was deeply troubled by a childhood incident learning to ride. She explained the meaning of the dream and cautioned him not to let his fears regarding horses get the better of him. Just a few days later, he went on the hunting trip with his friends that he was anticipating, all of them mounted on noble stallions. His underlying anxieties led to carelessness atop his mount, and he was killed when the stallion jumped a fence and threw him. Soleil remained in service as a courtesan, swearing that she could not leave her life's work and thus abandon her patrons to the unknown.

She made a remarkably good impression at the Salon de Gentian, frequently working with the novices and adepts to help further their understanding of their roles within the salon, their psychological responsibilities to patrons as courtesans who focused on healing, and the importance of health of the mind, body, and heart. And beyond that, everyone seemed to love the ginger kitten who was a gift of the current duc Chalasse.

There's something about her, though, for she finally left service to wed Augustin Trevalion, finally allowing someone to lure her away.

Description

Her features are distinguished, with high cheekbones and a fine nose suggesting a delicate bone structure. Her blonde hair is luxurious and soft, with a red-gold tint to it that absolutely glimmers in the sun. Her brows are similarly colored, perfectly manicured with a gentle arch, and her eyes are large and soft and sweetly blue with just a touch of violet to them. Her mouth is full, with pillowed lips of a warm rose, and her skin is pale and fair with just a hint of warm freckles.

Her hair is often pinned up, with long trailing curls to frame the gentle curves of her exquisite face. She chooses her jewelry well, with a tendency to show off fantastic designs and wealthy gifts, all intended to pick up the radiant glow of her skin, warm and soft, or accent her eyes in blues and violets. Her choice of fabrics is always quite fine, well-woven and expensive, but the gowns themselves bespeak generous breasts, a tiny waist, and full hips, plus the perfect low scoop of the back to show off a Gentian marque in all its glory.

Personality

Quirks:

• Copacetic: Soleil takes in stride whatever life brings her, and she is never sulky or cross or discontented with her lot. She is calm, soothing, dreamy, and poetic.
• Sentimental: Soleil has never met an object she couldn't form an emotional attachment to. She remembers each and every gift that she's ever been given, and treasures all of them fondly.
• Le Chat: Soleil is often seen in company with a ginger cat, although she never refers to him by any name other than "Le Chat Roux." He has a carrying basket and rides about within it comfortably, the lord of all he surveys. Recently, he's been seen in a sapphire and gold collar with bells.
